AutoCAD The first desktop version of AutoCAD was a 16K DOS program. In the 1980s, 32-bit DOS programs could access up to 16 megabytes (MB) of memory. Before the advent of Linux-based computers, AutoCAD ran only on DOS. It was available on a number of different DOS platforms: MS-DOS, OS/2, Windows 3.1, OS/2 Warp, Windows 3.x, Windows 95 and Windows 98. AutoCAD 2002 was first released as a 32-bit program, running on DOS, Windows and OS/2 Warp 2.0. AutoCAD 2005 was the first 64-bit Windows program, the first release to be fully 64-bit capable. AutoCAD 2012 was first released as a 64-bit program, running on Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux. What is AutoCAD? AutoCAD is a computer software program that creates three-dimensional (3D) drawings, from simple 2D layouts to detailed assemblies. The vast majority of AutoCAD users work within the architectural, engineering, and construction industries, but it is also used in a wide variety of commercial and non-commercial industries. It is commonly used to draw geometrical objects. AutoCAD is the most popular CAD (computer-aided design) software product in the world. Since its creation, it has become more and more versatile. The main features of AutoCAD are as follows: Functionalities 3D drawing creation Surface modeling Architectural design Vehicle design Electrical design Mechanical design Site design Interactive construction Time management Appendices AutoCAD basics The AutoCAD program is a type of 3D modeler that allows designers to place and manipulate geometric objects, line and curves, text and area, and other drawing elements. It can be used to produce traditional drawings, architectural blueprints, engineering schematics, design layouts, and other types of documents. AutoCAD's popularity is mainly due to its ease of use, variety of standard and free software plug-ins, and broad support. There are many other software programs that can be used to draw 2D drawings, including the following: Microsoft Visio SketchUp PTC Creo Raptor PTC Inventor AutoCAD Custom programming can be done using a "Host Application" such as Microsoft Visual Studio, Eclipse, etc. Some projects using AutoCAD include: Blender; based on a plugin architecture, it can import and export complex drawings c:geometry (part of Open CASCADE) is a wrapper around the.NET ADN library allowing complex geometry editing. It can import and export.dwg,.dxf and.stp files. Inchworm (a collaboration-based CAD program using the AutoCAD API for 3D) T-squares for AutoCAD Fireworks; it can import and export.dwg,.dxf,.jpeg,.pdf,.pxd files Visual Studio Plugin; it is a plugin for Visual Studio that can import and export.dwg,.dxf,.png,.pdf,.pxd,.stp files The Xenics Toolkit for.dwg,.dxf and.stp file formats Open Design Alliance (ODA) shared models and script files using the Visual Studio Plugin Bentley CAD; a commercial product. The front-end can import, edit, and export.dwg,.dxf,.stp,.skp, and.txt files. The Fusion 360 plugin; an open source plugin for Microsoft's desktop applications, allowing the import and export of.dwg and.stp files. The Cad Engine; a commercial CAD application, which can import and export.dwg,.dxf and.stp files Starchart; a commercial solution, which allows the import and export of.dwg,.dxf and.stp files MapUp; a desktop application that maps coordinates in 2D (without z values) as stored in AutoCAD drawings to a projected coordinate system. It can import and export.dwg,.dxf,.stp,.png,.pdf,.pxd and.ptx file formats. Open the folder where you installed "3DData" program. (should be /Program/3DData/3DData_installation_folder/). Double-click on the file "3DDataInstall.exe". At the beginning of the install, 3DData will scan for available acadian region files, and then you will have the choice to use the existing file, or to download them from another computer (if necessary). You will then be directed to a screen where you will be able to select the regions you wish to use. Usage 3DData is a program designed to help you with CAD modeling and rendering, among other things. Its main purpose is to create 3D models from a variety of templates from different countries and then to export them to Autocad® or other CAD programs. However, it can be used in other ways: for example, you could use it as a tool to help you create parametric models (by accessing region files), to create 3D models of your own design, to display small models, to create both 2D and 3D drawings, etc. See also Autocad® 3D data External links 3DData's website Download 3DData Category:CAD software Category:Technical drawing softwareQ: How to solve "Error(23,6): error TS2304: Cannot find name 'this' " in Typescript typings for Angular2 I'm playing around with Typescript for Angular2 and keep getting a weird error. While importing the typings from angular2 using the command npm install @types/angular2 I get the following error: typings/typescript/node_modules/angular2/index.d.ts(232,9): error TS2304: Cannot find name 'this'. I'm not very knowledgeable with Typescript and the typings as I'm coming from a Java/C++/Scala background. Could someone explain to me, what I'm doing wrong and why the typings won't work? A: If you are using the angular 2 typings, you must be using the 2.x series. I have installed the typings using the 2.x series, and What's New in the AutoCAD? Drawing Visualization: Bring a consistent look to your drawings with the Autodesk® Drawing Inspector. Change a dimension to make it wider or change the color of a line to make it black or red. With the Drawing Inspector, you can change the look of your drawings in seconds. (video: 1:17 min.) Ease of Use for Graphic Designers: Autodesk® Design Review: Autodesk® Design Review enables you to view, annotate, comment, and keep track of revisions for your models in an easy-to-use web-based collaborative workspace. Review concepts and capture design comments. Work together to refine ideas, as well as identify problems and provide feedback. Using a web browser, you can review and annotate a drawing with all of the commenting and review features of Design Review on your computer. Display Device Independent Design Workspaces: Your design is device independent with all of the major CAD software packages. Design with confidence in AutoCAD, Autodesk® Inventor®, Autodesk® Revit®, and Autodesk® Navisworks® on your screen, or your computer screen. Make design changes and go back to a drawing later as you transition between multiple displays. Save Time and Effort: Try new features, collaborate with others on your team, or share your designs in a variety of ways. Access the information and data you need in one place and easily access it when you need it. Save time and save effort by not worrying about where you will access your design information. New! Design Support Support your design as it evolves by maintaining a single place for the information you need. A single source for all of the information you need to design effectively, or support your designs, is available in AutoCAD® and AutoCAD LT®. New! AutoCAD® Migrate to DesignCenter Migrate your older drawings from AutoCAD® to DesignCenter so that you can access and collaborate on those drawings from within AutoCAD LT®. This will allow you to continue to use a familiar user interface for your drawing sessions. AutoCAD 2023 is now available on Windows® 10, macOS® Catalina and Ubuntu® 18.04 LTS.
